Once more, Easter greetings to everyone, as we walk in the light of the resurrection towards the great feast of Pentecost – may the Risen Lord grant us His grace and peace always!
On 21 April 2018, the third Saturday of April, the Holy Cross Parish Council met to discuss, deal with and decide on various issues as noted below.
Firstly, after the approval of the minutes of the last meeting, Holy Week and the Good Friday Way of the Cross Drama as well as the Holy Cross Lenten Pilgrimage for 2018 to the monastery of Our Lady of Kykkos in the Troodos mountains which took place on 24 March 2018, were reviewed and discussed by the members of the Council, and it was noted that both were very well received and attended. Some points were also made as to how to enhance the experience further and involve more parishioners too for the next time.
Then it was confirmed that the Holy Cross Movie Nights for the months of May and of June 2018, which take place on the first Friday of each month, would feature a film on the apparitions and miracles of Our Lady of Guadeloupe and a great movie on the life of St Anthony of Padua, in May and June 2018, respectively.
The Holy Cross Parish Lunch which is to take place on Sunday, 20 May 2018, and to which all parishioners of the Holy Cross, but also all the other Latin Parishes of Cyprus are invited, was then discussed at some length.
It was decided that the next Parish Council meeting is to be held on 9 May 2018 to deal specifically with the progression of the detailed planning, the organisation and tasks assigned to everyone involved in the Parish Lunch. There will be food and drinks as well as a program with presentations and entertainment by different groups of our Parish, in a spirit of Eastertide celebration, in brotherly communion, peace and joy – the theme will be “St Francis – Peace”, on the occasion of the 800 years of the Franciscan presence in the Holy Land, this year.
Finally, please note for the Holy Cross Website, for the Mass and Office of Readings links shown on the left side of the Homepage, they have been techinically adjusted, so that for the Calendar related to Easter, they now apply us, following the General Calendar for the Catholic Church of the East, which celebrates Easter with the Orthodox Church, as we do at Holy Cross in Cyprus (see www.holy-cross-nicosia.com).
Once more every blessing from the Risen Lord for our Parish, our priests and religious, our families and children and for the work of the Parish Council too! We pray that the Risen Lord may fill us with His Holy Spirit always joy everyday His power and His mercy!
