One year later…

Provisional-HC-Header.jpgOne year later… It is unbelievable that one year has passed already since I came to serve the Holy Cross community as Parish Priest. Last year at the same time I was worried if the community would accept me and how I would find myself in my new assignment at the Holy Cross and St. Elizabeth parish.

After one year I can say that my worries were completely unnecessary. I found a wonderful family which cares for the Church and its pastors. I found a place of true worship not only on Sundays, when the parish premises both in Nicosia and Kyrenia are completely crowded, but also during the week! This is a wonderful testimony of the young, living Church which is praying together and is open to the Holy Spirit and to the New Evangelisation.

I am happy to get tired and to sacrifice myself for these communities which are the witnesses of Christ’s love in our days on this Island of the Apostles. Serving the faithful who are openly manifesting their faith is a real joy and satisfaction! I find myself very fulfilled as a pastor in Nicosia and Kyrenia (even though I don’t have time to go there as often as I would like). I wish all the pastors to have the same experience in their pastoral service as I do!

I am aware that most of our parishioners are able to come to pray and worship only on Sundays but many come during the week as well, especially those devoted to the daily adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, to Saint Anthony of Padua or to the Mother of Perpetual Help.

I am very happy to live with my brothers (Fathers Jerzy, Danielmosé and Andrew) who are really dedicated to the parish and very supportive. We all try to make you feel at home in God’s House. We know that we are not perfect and that sometimes problems arise but this is normal in every family. Every problem can be solved when there is good will, and in my experience there is a lot of good will and good collaboration in our communities.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for welcoming me and my brothers, for praying with us and being part of our multicultural and international family of the Holy Cross and Saint Elizabeth parishes. Let us work for God’s glory and our personal sanctification in the coming year.

Pray for us! Peace and all good!

Fr. Zacheusz M. Dulniok, ofm (Parish Priest)
