The Parish Council met on Saturday, 21 March 2015 and after an opening prayer and the proclamation of a Psalm, the minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The meeting then continued and the Agenda included the Parish pilgrimage for Lent, the Movie Night for April 2015, the Holy Cross Parish Register draft form, the Good Friday Way of the Cross drama, the Holy Cross Information Service and the Holy Cross Parish Lunch. As previously decided, the Parish Pilgrimage for Lent will take place on Wednesday 1 April 2015, a public holiday in Cyprus and it will be to Agios Neophytos Monastery in Paphos. Everyone is encouraged to register early, the cost is 10 euro per person and appropriate forms are also in the sacristy. We will be meeting at 8am at Holy Cross to take the coaches, to travel together towards Paphos. During the pilgrimage there will be prayers with psalms, an opportunity for everyone to confess, we will have picnic lunch, make the Way of the Cross and visit the Monastery of Agios Neophytos where we will be welcomed and have a guided tour. We will aim to be back in Nicosia before 6pm. Those who went on the previous Holy Cross pilgrimages know what a wonderful experience it is for the whole of our parish – so, do not miss it!
The Movie Night for April will be on Friday, 6 April 2015 and will feature a fantastic movie entitled “God is NOT dead.” As usual, it will begin after the evening mass, at about 7.15pm in St Francis Hall, with refreshments and snacks during the interval and everyone is welcome. The free Holy Cross Information Service already started and those who wish to be personally, electronically informed about different events/announcements concerning our Parish can still register for it in the sacristy by giving their mobile number and/or email address on the appropriate form. A good number of parishioners are registered already.
The registration form regarding the development of the Holy Cross Parish Register was briefly reviewed also and it was decided for further improvements to be made to it. It was also noted that for the Good Friday Way of the Cross drama for which Fr Andrew Verdote is overall responsible is already being organised with good participation. Finally, it was decided for the Holy Cross Parish Lunch this year to take place on 5 July 2015, in honour of our Patriarch of Jerusalem, who will be in Cyprus and will be visiting our Parish that Sunday. This event will be open to all parishioners and will be more specifically planned after Easter. We wish you abundant blessings from the Lord as Holy Week approaches, as we walk towards our greatest feast, the Passover of the Lord. We implore Him to shower contless graces upon each one of us, our priests, our Parish and all its people through His mercy, especially at this wonderful time, to experience and witness His presence, power and love more strongly and His salvation more deeply everyday!
