Parish Council News & Messages

The Parish Council met on Saturday, 21 February 2015. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved after the opening prayer and a reading from the Book of Psalms. The meeting then continued with the other items on the Agenda which included the Holy Cross Information Service, the Parish pilgrimage for Lent, the Movie Night for March 2015, the Holy Cross Parish Register, the Good Friday Way of the Cross drama and the conditions outside the church.
The free Holy Cross Information Service will begin very soon, through which parishioners who wish will be personally, electronically informed about different events/announcements concerning our Parish. A good number of parishioners have noted their interest already and everyone
interested is encouraged to give their mobile number and/or email address in the appropriate form in the sacristy.
The Parish Pilgrimage for Lent will take place on Wednesday 1 April 2015, a public holiday in Cyprus and it will be to Agios Neophytos Monastery in Paphos. Further details will be announced soon when the arrangements are finalised.
The Movie Night will be on Friday, 6 March 2015, with a movie on the life of St Joseph and it will begin as usual after the evening mass, at about 7.15pm in St Francis Hall, with refreshments and snacks during the interval. Everyone is welcome.
Regarding the development of the Holy Cross Parish Register, it was noted that the Executive Members of the Council met and drafted an appropriate registration form which would be further reviewed before it is finalised.
The Good Friday Way of the Cross drama was also discussed and it was proposed that Fr Andrew Verdote be overall responsible for its organization this year, a task which he readily accepted.
About the conditions outside the church with the parking, it was decided to continue the efforts to improve the situation (especially for those with particular needs requiring special help to come to the church) through liaising with parties who may be able to help alleviate the situation appropriately.
We wish you every blessing from the Lord at this time of Lent and we implore Him to shower upon each one of us, our priests, our Parish and all its people through His mercy, abundant graces to experience His presence, power and love more deeply every day. As we walk towards the Passover may we personally experience our existence being truly transfigured!

Akis HjiIossif (Chairman)
