Parish Council – November Meeting

The Holy Cross Parish Council met on Saturday 17 November 2012 and on the Agenda were various items including the launch of the Holy Cross Movie Nights, the updates of the new Parish Website, the Advent Pilgrimage and the Holy Cross 2013 Calendar. The following were noted.

The Holy Cross Movie Nights held every first Friday of the month, were received with excitement in the Parish with the first Movie Night featuring a movie on the life of St Francis of Assisi being very well attended and a great success. The December Holy Cross Movie Night will take place on Friday 7 December 2012 and will feature the wonderful movie “THE NATIVITY STORY”, at 7.15pm, in St Francis Hall after the evening mass.

The Holy Cross Parish Website also has proved to be a great success, having more than 6000 unique visitors in just over one month since its launch; training was received for it to be regularly maintained and updated.

The Holy Cross Parish 2013 Calendar to be dedicated to the Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI was also discussed; it is now being finalised and one thousand copies will be printed to be available in early December 2012 at a cost of 2 euro each.

Finally, the HOLY CROSS ADVENT PILGRIMAGE  was decided to take place on Saturday, 8 December 2012, feast of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady. It will be a wonderful experience for everyone, helping us to enter into the Season of Advent, full of hope for our lives and it will have Faith as its theme. We will journey to Our Lady of Machairas setting off at about8.30am and returning by about5pm, with fun and a picnic lunch on the way. To ensure a  place, reservations can be made in the Holy Cross sacristy at a cost of only 6 euro per person.

The Parish Council meeting ended with a random Gospel reading and prayers calling upon the mercy of the Lord for each one of us in our Parish.
Akis HjiIossif (Chairman)
