What is the Parish Council?
Holy Cross Parish Council is established in accordance with the Code of Canon Law. It is a collaborative body of the Christian faithful whose purpose is the promotion of the mission of Jesus Christ and His Church in its entirety, working in close collaboration with the Parish Priest, advising him in matters pertaining to pastoral ministry, promoting evangelization and outreach to others. The Parish Priest is an ex-officio non-voting member of the Parish Council whose members reflect the diversity of the parish.
Following a time with a provisional parish council, an election process was conducted in October 2011 and the Executive Committee was chosen, which consists of the Chairman, the Vice-Chairman and the Secretary.
Meetings of the Parish Council are conducted monthly in a spirit of prayer. Among other issues so far, the Parish Council of the Holy Cross has been working on producing a Calendar for the first time in our Parish, for 2012, on introducing the Parish Register, on encouraging parishioners to constructively comment and make suggestions to the Parish Council by the introduction of the Suggestions Box and email address of the Parish Council, on introducing Penitential Liturgies and Pilgrimages at special times during the year, involving the whole parish and on establishing a Plan for the year 2012.
We hope that the Lord will bless us and our Parish abundantly and that the work of the Parish Council will be seen to benefit and touch the life of everyone in our parish. We ask for your prayers in this respect and look forward to your collaboration with us for the benefit of our Church.
