The Feast of St Francis of Assisi

Dear Family of the Holy Cross Parish, PAX ET BONUM!

May the greeting of Saint Francis bring us what we all need in our days: peace and all good! …

October is the month during which all three Franciscan Families and those who are touched by the life of the Poverello of Assisi commemorate the Transitus, St. Francis’ return to the house of his Creator (October 3) and celebrate the feast in his honour (October 4). St. Francis was fully devoted to the Mother of Christ; we are going to follow his example and pray the Holy Rosary every day, since the month of October is dedicated to this wonderful and powerful prayer.

We will include in our prayers the Holy Father, Pope Francis, who is the first among the Pontiffs to use the name of Saint Francis of Assisi and will pray for his intentions as well. We pray for peace, especially in Syria and the Middle East. May the Lord make us instruments of peace!

There is only ONE WAY to Heaven: through faithful obedience (like that of the Blessed Virgin Mary) and through conversion and repentance (shown by St. Francis). Let us walk together following the example of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary and St. Francis.

God bless us all!

Fr. Zach, ofm – Parish Priest
