The Holy Father Pope Francis having the pastoral solicitude towards all the communities, especially those in the peripheries, has long considered Cyprus, the land of the Apostle Barnabas, as the place of his next visit.
His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Excellency Selim Sfeir, Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus and the Most Reverend Father Francesco Patton, Custos of the Holy Land, with great joy announce that His Holiness Pope Francis, having accepted the invitation addressed to Him by His Excellency Nicos Anastasiades, President of the Republic of Cyprus, by His Beatitude Chrysostomos II, Archbishop of Nea Justiniana and All Cyprus and of the Hierarchy of the local Churches, will make his Apostolic Journey to Cyprus from the 2nd to 4th of December 2021.
The details of the Holy Father’s Visit will be published in due course.
The motto of this pastoral visit is “Comforting each other in faith”.

MOTTO
“Comforting each other in faith”
Inspired by the name of the Apostle Barnabas, which can mean son of exhortation or consolation (cf. Acts 4:36), it suggests the importance of comforting and encouraging each other, essential dimensions of dialogue, encounter and welcome and salient features of the life and history of the Island.
