HOLY CROSS PARISH COUNCIL NEWS & MESSAGES
The Parish Council met on 25 May 2022 and discussed various issues including plans for events at the Holy Cross, the publication of the monthly Parish Newsletter, the catechesis for the children from Autumn 2022, the live streaming on YouTube of liturgies and the Holy Cross smartphone application.
It was decided that in September 2022 the feast of our Parish of the Holy Cross, will also be celebrated this year with a Feast in the Presbytery Gardens, with dinner and a disco, on Saturday 10 September 2022, in the evening, at 7:30pm, after the Holy Mass. It was proposed for tickets to be issued in June, to be available to all parishioners with a deadline of 1 September 2022 for their distribution. The Parish Council will also be meeting in June and over the Summer, before September, in order to organise well this Holy Cross Feast. More details will be announced in due course.
It was noted that the Parish Newsletter, published every month (except in July and August) on the Holy Cross website (at www.holy-cross-nicosia.com ) will be announced in the church when issued every month to remind everyone to read it online and a hard copy will be posted on the board at the church entrance for reference.
Concerning the children catechesis, it was proposed for a teenage group to be introduced from this coming Autumn under the guidance of a priest for the boys and a religious sister for the girls, in order to guide them through the difficulties and sensitive issues in their teenage years. Also it was noted that textbooks (the YouCat series) will be given to all children according to their level to be followed through the year in the catechesis.
For the YouTube live streaming of Holy Cross liturgies, it was requested for the texts read to be visible in the broadcast, for viewers to be able to follow more easily the liturgies and readings proclaimed. It was also decided for the Holy Cross smartphone application for Android to be further promoted so that every parishioner installs it on their Android phone or tablet and, furthermore, for a similar application to be created for iPhones as soon as possible.
Finally please note that the “Life of a Saint” series on the Holy Cross website this June will feature Saint Anthony of Padua, with presentations and videos on his life (for adults as well as children), to inspire us in our call as Christians, to walk with the Risen Lord in our life every day, like him.
We pray for the Lord’s protection for us and our Parish, we pray for the strength of His grace and the power of His Spirit, for our priests and religious, our families and children and for the work of the Parish Council too! May He fill us with blessings, to live always in communion with Him and each other, with joy everyday!
